Sisemed attends the Avedis Donabedian Awards ceremony for quality and excellence in care management
Yesterday afternoon, the traditional awards ceremony of the Avedis Donabedian Foundation (FAD) took place, recognizing the effort and dedication of professionals in the health and social fields, in initiatives that improve the effectiveness of treatments and safety in care provision. The Axa Auditorium in Barcelona was the location chosen to accommodate nearly 1,000 people, including the main authorities, representatives of health and social institutions, and leaders of Spanish health.
In this edition it is worth mentioning the recognition to Professor Asenjo for his extensive career in care and academic management: he has directed the Hospital Clínic and the hospitals of the Provincial Councils of Jaén and Asturias, co-introduced the MIR system in Spain, directed the magazine Todo Hospital and 21 doctoral theses, all "cum laude". He has published 5 books and 413 scientific articles, including 162 editorials, and he is a regular speaker at National and International Conferences. He was awarded the Josep Trueta Medal for health merit by the Government of Catalonia in 2011 and is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Barcelona.
Founded more than 30 years ago, the FAD is the representative in Spain of the Joint Commission, which is the auditing organization in the world in health accreditation. It also collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) to examine everything that has to do with quality and patient safety.
