Sisemed attends the session “Barcelona, biotechnology capital”, organised by Roca Junyent

Roca Junyent Jornada BiotecnologíaRoca Junyent, the renowned law firm, organised a breakfast discussion called "Barcelona, biotechnology capital", where an analysis was conducted of the privileged situation the city enjoys, with a diverse business structure that facilitates its role as an incubator for new ideas, businesses and products in the biotechnology and biomedicine sector.

It is one of the most dynamic sectors with more investment possibilities, as Sisemed can confirm. The company, which was founded under the Costaisa Group, currently has around 80 people in its team and it covers biomedical engineering services throughout Spain.

During the breakfast event, the speakers, which included investors, businesspersons and researchers, agreed on the need for R&D&I to receive more interest from public authorities so they can support, with more modern legislation, the establishment of companies and fiscal measures relating to researchers employed by more than one employer. Giving examples of other cities that have advanced on this arduous journey, Barcelona is considered to be among the world's best in this sector, although its low capacity for publicising projects under way is somewhat surprising.
