New management processes and regulatory changes at the national hospital engineering conference

XXXIV Seminario de Ingeniería Hospitalaria AEIH

The 34th Hospital Engineering Seminar has come to a close "with the feeling that the sector is moving toward and preparing for changes for the future", according to Xavier Pardell, our Medical Technology Manager, who attended the most important biomedical engineering conference in Spain.

Over the three days of sessions, "new technology features and new technical and management approaches were presented", noted Pardell, "highlights of which include the presentation by Mamen Vivancos, Assistant Director of Infrastructures at Vinalopó and Torrevieja Hospitals, and by Claire Murphy, on upcoming regulatory changes in the field of electro-medicine".

In fact, the international regulations governing this field have not yet been implemented in Spain, and will not be for at least the next four years, according to Rafael Cuevas, Manager of Engineering and Maintenance Services at Hospital Doctor Peset. These regulations ensure that hospitals have the required verification systems in the event that any problems arise.

Another highlight was the presentation by Jesús Antonio Llor, from Streye, on the use of augmented reality with special glasses, and the one on robotics by Alicia Casals, from the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

Neuroparks, big data, business intelligence, BIM technology and efficient energy management were also discussed.
